Mark Gallacher takes over from long-serving John Henderson.

FEM’s new financial controller is an award-winning, marathon-running blogger. However, Mark Gallacher is also a highly experienced financial manager who was part of the team at Argent Energy Group during its growth from a £20m to a £164m turnover company.

For the last few weeks he’s been working alongside FEM’s current financial controller, John Henderson, who is retiring after 20 years with the company.

“Naturally we’re sorry to see John go,” says Harry Hogan, managing director of FEM. “He has played a key role in FEM’s success and everyone here wants to thank him for his service and his friendship down the years. We are very lucky to have attracted such a high calibre replacement – Mark’s expertise and experience will help us build on the solid financial foundations that John has helped create.”

As financial controller, Mark will oversee the day to day running of the finance department and ensure the financial procedures in the company are robust enough for its future needs. He says, “I am very excited to be taking on the role. John has built a great team and we have a solid infrastructure in place for moving the finance department on as the company grows.”

Mark is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a B.Acc from Glasgow University. He is 46 years old, married and has two children. Outside of work, when he’s not busy with the family, he enjoys distance running and writing – combining both passions in his blog (markgallmac.wordpress.com), which won an award at the 2017 Running Awards at the O2 in London. He is a member of Motherwell AC and is currently training for his second marathon, having completed the 2017 London Marathon.
