FEM 30th Anniversary Gin & Limoncello Cocktail
Our Training & Development Chef, Nathan Osborne, shares his 30th Anniversary cocktail recipe, the 'FEM 30'.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of FEM (1993-2023) we have created this wonderful zesty and punchy cocktail...
First off we have to make our Limoncello - yup that's right - we are making this from scratch. And trust us when we say it makes all the difference.
Limoncello Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 12 Organic un-waxed lemons (wash under warm water to remove wax if unwaxed isn’t available)
- 750ml vodka (high percentage of alcohol brand)
- 350g caster sugar
HOW TO MAKE
To make the Limoncello. Remove the peel, taking care to leave as much of the white pith as possible.
Place the peel and the vodka into your Hamilton Beach Commercial Eclipse blender and pulse to break down the peel.
Placed the mix into an air-tight jar and leave it in a dark place for two weeks, shaking the jar daily.
AFTER 2 WEEKS
Put the sugar in a pan with 350ml water and heat until the sugar dissolves and you’re left with a syrup.
Strain the vodka through some muslin to remove the lemon peel. Then pour into a sterilised bottle with the sugar syrup. Leave this to infuse overnight.
The 'FEM 30' Gin & Limoncello Cocktail
INGREDIENTS
30ml Limoncello
35ml Gin
Soda
Lemon slice
Rosemary or thyme sprig
THE METHOD
Take 30ml of your freshly prepared Limoncello. Pour over ice in a tall – Tom Collins glass.
Add 35ml of good quality gin and top with soda.
Mix thoroughly and finish with lemon slices and a sprig of rosemary or thyme.
Enjoy and repeat!
