Some fun facts about the states where our American manufacturers were founded

As importers of a number of US manufacturers FEM have a strong link with the States and to celebrate the fourth of July, we take a closer look at the home state of each of our American manufacturers

The sunny state is the birthplace of the Camtray, Camshelving and Camcarriers. Yes, you’ve guessed it - Cambro was established in California in 1951 and the state played host to the first Cambro factory. The official California state motto is ‘Eureka!’ which aptly reflects Cambro’s commitment to innovation within the foodservice industry.

Hamilton Beach Commercial hails from Virginia, making it the state of ‘good thinking’! It’s a place of powerful blending and powerful people – more US presidents were born in Virginia than any other state.

Illinois is home to Prince Castle, the US manufacturer of quick service utensils and equipment. No coincidence then that the very first McDonalds restaurant was opened in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955 – the same year that Prince Castle was founded!

Wisconsin has a lot to boast about, as home to 5 of our US manufacturers as well as the birthplace of the ice cream ‘sundae’. Alto-Shaam, Manitowoc, San Jamar, Vollrath and Server were all founded in the state, which is often referred to as ‘America’s Dairyland’ with 15% of the nation’s milk produced there as well as over 350 varieties of cheese!
