Vibrantly coloured kitchen tools help protect customers with allergies

New EU allergen labelling regulations came into force at the end of 2014, which means that caterers need to take extra care to protect customers and the reputation of their business. FEM (Foodservice Equipment Marketing) is launching a range of utensils based on the San Jamar Saf-T-Zone system, to help caterers with allergen compliance.

One of the biggest causes of allergic reactions is contamination during food preparation in commercial kitchens. The San Jamar utensils use eye-catching purple plastic for the grips that provides a simple yet effective approach to creating an allergen-safe preparation area, by helping to distinguish the utensils from other equipment.

The range includes a chopping board, made from dishwasher-safe co-polymer incorporating grip corners to ensure it is held securely in place during use. The board is embossed with cleaning instructions, along with easy-to-understand icons that detail which foods should not be prepared on it. The board also has an integrated ruler for easy portioning and cost control. The chopping board is available in three sizes, 15x23cm, 23×30.5cm and 30.5×45.5cm.

The range also includes common-use items such as a 25cm chef’s knife, tongs, a turner and a digital thermometer. All items use the same distinctive purple plastic handles.
